Job Description

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Kinesiology College of Health and Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a fulltime Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise in clinical exercise physiology. This position will begin in Fall 2025. This is a 36week fulltime nontenure track FixedTerm I faculty appointment with an excellent possibility of reappointment. Candidates must have at least one year of teaching experience with specific expertise preferred in the following areas i.e. exercise physiology exercise prescription for healthy people across the lifespan and individuals with chronic disease exercise testing using field and laboratory methods physical activity promotion expertise in fitness and wellness testing and administration program management and electrocardiogram interpretation. An earned doctorate in Kinesiology or a related area is preferred.

The duties of this position include management of the Center for Fitness and Wellness (CFW) an exercise testing and wellness laboratory with a high throughput of clients throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. The position trains supervises and assesses student interns of the CFW. This position will also assist in coordination of the Exercise is Medicine On Campus initiative which involves development and leadership of on and offcampus fitness and wellness outreach activities throughout the academic year.

This position provides opportunity to join a progressive multidisciplinary group of faculty with a scholarly focus on human movement and physical activity. An interest in Kinesiology from a developmental and lifespan perspective would fit well within both the Department and College. Computer skills excellent communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor undergraduate students are required. Experience with online learning is preferable. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Opportunities exist to augment salary through summer teaching. The Department of Kinesiology is an academic unit in the College of Health and Human Development offering B.S. M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.
