Position: MidLevel Medical Provider

Hours: Parttime FullTime NonExempt

Location: West La Clinic Lynwood Clinic and multiple sites throughout Los Angeles County on traveling Mobile Medical Unit

General Description:

The midlevel Medical Provider is responsible for supervising the daily medical operations of the Claris Health clinics when onsite. This includes the performance of pregnancy testing STI testing and treatment early prenatal care (including ultrasound imaging) well woman visits health screenings blood draws patient education and more. With the help of the Clinic Director the Provider will maintain relationships with local training agencies (medical schools tech schools) and oversee medical volunteers in the clinic. The Provider is responsible for the implementation of medical policies & procedures and for addressing any medical issues or questions that arise.

Qualifications:

  1. PA NP or CNM with an active California license in good standing with the State Medical Board.
  2. Ideally is trained in the performance of Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound but not required.
  3. Expresses agreement with the Claris Health Mission Statement Core Values and Policies and Procedures.
  4. Expresses a sincere desire to work with underserved communities and women facing unintended pregnancies.
  5. Respect confidentiality of patients staff and volunteers.

Have direct experience and expertise in providing OB/GYN (including prenatal care) services.

Reports to: Clinic Director

Supervises: Medical Assistant and Medical Volunteers (when applicable)

Responsibilities:

PATIENT CARE

  1. Conducts initial OB visits and fetal assessment tests.
  2. Performs pregnancy tests and limited obstetric ultrasound exams (if trained and certified).
  3. Performs wellwomen exams including pap smears pelvic exams and breast exams.
  4. Performs STI testing diagnoses treatment and the management of infections.
  5. Performs general health screenings and blood draws.
  6. Orders conducts and supervises laboratory tests.
  7. Performs prenatal care and leads Centering groups (if trained and certified).
  8. Addresses patient concerns and consults with the Clinic Director when necessary.
  9. Works with the Patient Services Director to follow up on patient outcomes.
  10. Educates patients on healthy pregnancy nutrition sexually transmitted diseases contraception methods abortion procedures etc. and dispenses or prescribes medication as approved by the Medical Director (prenatal vitamins iron antibiotics).
  11. Works with the Patient Care team to ensure that patients receive necessary medical and community referrals and that all referral materials are up to date.
  12. Works with the Clinic Director in the development and implementation of any additional medical programs and services.
  13. Oversees additional patient care duties such as the management and the disposal of hazardous waste training on new equipment and ongoing research related to patient care services.
  14. Serves as a healthcare researcher consultant educator and patient advocate.
  15. Supports medical assistants and medical volunteers with information questions and assistance with medical issues.

ADMINISTRATION

  1. If involved with prenatal care maintains birth outcome statistics and reviews routinely with the other prenatal care providers.
  2. Assists Clinic Director to ensure that accurate patient records and statistics are maintained. Works with other staff to guarantee accurate chart auditing and medical form updates.
  3. Assists with ordering medical supplies in accordance with the budget.
  4. Informs the Clinic Director on all aspects of the medical operations of the Clinic and ensures that all necessary medical forms and packets are stocked and available.
  5. Assists Clinic Director with creating and submitting all reports to state and local health departments.
  6. Completes a weekly patient charge bill for medical reimbursements.
  7. Helps represent Claris Health in the medical community and at other agency related events when necessary.
  8. All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the Midlevel Provider is regularly required to sit stand walk speak and hear. This position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Travel:

The Midlevel Provider must be able to travel between clinic locations and to attend conferences trainings and other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.

Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Claris Healths pay ranges vary based on work location. As part of the total compensation package this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a rolespecific commission/bonus as well as annual refresh stock grants.
