What youll do as a Crew Leader at Lewis:
- Leada tightknit crew creatingand promotingapositiveteam environment
- Interpret tree trimming removal and spraying orders initiated by General Foreman or representative of the customer
- Plan and layout daily work foryourcrew.(Consideringtime required to complete work cleanup time equipment available weather conditions customers permission etc.
- Perform a PreJob Hazard Survey at each job site with all crew members and assigns work tasks based on an individuals knowledge skills and abilities.
- Performline clearing and tree trimmingdutiesforLewis Tree Servicesutilitycustomersincludingpruning treetopsand limbstrimming or removal ofatrisk/damaged trees as well as removing broken limbs from wires roofsetc.
- Climb treesand operate a bucketfor trimming and removals in and above the power lines.
- Prepareoperateand maintainall tools and equipment including hand tools chainsaws chippers and aerial lifts.
- Removelimbsand brush cleanup and disposeof debris.
- Mixingand applyspray chemicals preserving desirable vegetation
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area.
- Enforce onthejob safety practices.
What youll need:
- Twoyears or moreexperienceworkingas a Trimmer/Climber working around utilitylines.
- Ability to lead peopleincluding strong communication skills
- Knowledgeof trees including identification growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for the trimming pruning repairing maintaining and removing as applicable to workingclose toenergized conductors.
- Experience in tree climbing knot tying andPPE
- Understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of lines voltage line equipment etc.
- Ability to perform physical labor such as lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.
- Capable of operating twohanded equipment (chain saw circular saw etc. and have the physical ability to endure extreme climate variances.
- Have a valid drivers license CDL and/or medical certificate required for the vehicle being operated.
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR cards
- Pass a preemployment drug test and job duty skills tests
