Main Purpose of Job
Provides Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants opportunities to gain skill training or work experience that will improve their employment prospects and reduce their reliance on SNAP benefits and provide the means for all nonexempt SNAP participants to meet the mandatory SNAP E&T (Employment and Training) requirements of work registration with specific focus on the AbleBodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) SNAP population.
POSITION DUTIES
- Implements a systemic evaluation of SNAP participants work potential needs and behaviors.
- Develops individual work plans with the SNAP participants that include soft skills classes and other preparatory work experience requirements.
- Assists SNAP participants with Maryland Workforce Exchange registration.
- Maintains relationships with new employers who are willing to hire SNAP participants.
- Attends job and career fairs with SNAP participants.
- Coordinates resources for SNAP participants.
- Refers SNAP participants to community partners that can assist with barriers related to general health mental health and physical disabilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff clerical clerical technical or secretarial work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a noncommissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a yearforyear basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.
One year of experience planning and implementing a work readiness program.
One year of experience conducting work readiness assessments and developing individual work plans.
One year of experience developing resumes to fit specific job opportunities.
One year of experience utilizing the Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) system.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

- Personal Leave new State employees are awarded six 6 personnel days annually (prorated based on start date).
