Position Purpose:
The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement and availability of materials to support production schedules. This role provides administrative coordination and support to the procurement function by maintaining accurate data and information to optimize material planning and .
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and respond to purchase messages from the ERP system to procure materials in the correct quantities to meet production requirements.
- Generate purchase orders for nonstock purchase requisitions.
- Maintain accurate delivery dates in the ERP system to support planning and scheduling.
- Update and manage material master data by vendor to enhance MRP (Material Requirements Planning) accuracy.
- Review vendor lists regularly and negotiate improved pricing for current materials as needed.
- Collaborate with plant operations to ensure material availability aligns with production needs.
- Foster strong relationships with internal customers to support crossfunctional collaboration.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Essential Skills Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Business Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- 35 years of experience in procurement purchasing or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint); must be comfortable working within an ERP system via PC or terminal server.
- Basic understanding of supply chain principles and the impact of procurement decisions on other parts of the process.
- Ability to develop a detailed understanding of customer requirements product specifications and shipping/packing standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with varying procedures.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues analyze root causes and implement or escalate solutions effectively.
- Adaptable and eager to learn; open to change and continuous improvement in daily processes.
