Job Description
Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multistep progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies**
Nature of Work
The reason thisposition exists is to be the legal advisor to the Montgomery CountyCommission the County Administrator County Department Heads and othergovernmental subdivisions and constitutional officers in all matters of civillaw relating to Montgomery County. The General Counsel shall attend allmeetings of the Montgomery County Commission unless otherwise directed. The GeneralCounsel may represent the County in all Courts in the State of Alabama andFederal Courts when necessary to do so. Upon request the General Counsel shallassist all constitutional officers and department heads of Montgomery Countygovernment concerning the general operation of their departments with regard tosuch legal matters as they shall need including representation not otherwiseprovided.
The General Counsel shall draft and/orreview such documents ordinances contracts resolutions bids proposed legislationand such other documents as may be necessary or required and shall make suchcertifications as from time to time may be required. The General Counsel shallresearch points of law as necessary and shall perform such other duties asmay be assigned by the County Administrator. The General Counsel shall report to the CountyAdministrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a member in good standing of theAlabama State Bar. Must have five 5)years of experience in administrative/governmental law ethics law and/orpublic works law.
