Performs intermediate semiskilled work performing automotive maintenance and repair; related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Transit Maintenance Supervisor. This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to DOT FTA Drug and Alcohol testing requirements.
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting bending reaching hand dexterity (grasping holding keyboarding repetitive movements) reading writing eyehand coordination seeing (near and/or far color depth field of vision) hearing using the telephone contact with government officials and the general public working overtime and working inside and alone. Work frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet humid conditions (nonweather) working in high precarious places exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals exposure to extreme cold (nonweather) exposure to extreme heat (nonweather) exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance heavy traffic).
