TheCanadian Youth Mental Health Insight (CYMHI) Platform is a pioneering youth mental health project that will enhance Canadas understanding of youth mental health needs and advance new assessment and treatment approaches. The (CYMHI) Platformwill use open data machine learning and advanced analytics methods to improve communication between youth and families researchers clinicians and other service providers with diverse mental health experiences and specializations.
The CYMI team is seeking a Fulltime Contract 1 year) IT Specialist Senior FullStack Web Application Developer who will design develop and maintain web applications focused on data presentation entry and analysis. You will design and develop intuitive userfriendly web applications and tools that abstract the complexity of data infrastructure enabling domain teams to focus on delivering insights and improving patient care. This role combines frontend and backend development with a focus on usability scalability and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Development:
- Build webbased tools and interfaces that allow users to independently publish discover and consume data products within the data platform
- Develop features for metadata management data lineage tracking and access control requests through intuitive UIs.
- Create dashboards for monitoring data product health usage metrics and compliance status.
Frontend Development:
- Design responsive accessible and userfriendly web interfaces using modern JavaScript or Python frameworks (e.g.ReactStreamlit etc..
- Implement data visualization components (e.g. charts tables maps and graphs) to help users explore and analyze data products.
- Ensure crossbrowser compatibility and mobile responsiveness for all applications.
- Adhere to best practices in UX and UI design
Backend Development:
- Develop APIs and microservices to support platform functionality such as data product registration schema validation and access provisioning.
- Integrate with backend data lake/lakehouse (e.g. Trino MinIO PostgreSQL) to enable seamless data interactions.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g. OAuth 2.0 Keycloak) to secure sensitive healthcare data.
Compliance & Security:
- Embed features such as masking of PHI audit logging and alerts
- Adhere to healthcarespecific security protocols (e.g. encryption audit logging) and ensure compliance withHIPAA(if applicable) and Canadian regulations.
- Collaborate with the hospitals IT security team to conduct regular vulnerability assessments and updates.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with domain teams (clinicians researchers analysts) to understand their needs and codesign solutions.
- Develop custom web applications to support specific research use cases enabling data visualization analysis and reporting.
- Provide training and documentation to help users adopt the selfserve platform effectively.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 35 years of experience in fullstack web development.
- Proficiency inHTML5CSS3JavaScript/TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks (React Angular or or Python packages such as Streamlit.
- Experience using Figma or similar tools to create UI mockups and designs
- Experience andPython (Django/Flask)
- Strong knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience containerizing web applications using Docker including writing efficient Dockerfiles
- Experience with RESTful APIs and data serialization (JSON XML).
- Familiarity with microservice architecture principles
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of healthcare data standards 7 is a plus.
- Knowledge of Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA PHIPA) and security best practices.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders (e.g. clinicians administrators).
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working inhealthcarenonprofits or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AzureAWS)
- Experience with GitOps workflows for Kubernetes deployments
