WHO WE NEED
ROMs Learning & Programs team is seeking creative dynamic and experienced instructors to join the ROM Summer Clubone of Torontos most engaging and diverse summer day camps. For over 80 years ROM Summer Club has delivered handson experiential learning programs inspired by the Museums worldclass collections and research in art culture and nature. As an Instructor youll lead educational programming that reflects 21stcentury learning strategies and fosters inclusive curiositydriven experiences for children aged 514. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Design and deliver fun inclusive and educational programming rooted in museum content and global competencies.
  • Prepare a comprehensive course plan outlining daily lessons learning goals and themed activities.
  • Center diversity equity accessibility and inclusion (DEAI) in all teaching and learning practices.
  • Adapt to various learning styles and incorporate accessibility supports.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all campers through strong classroom management and positive engagement.
  • Integrate inquirybased and experiential learning techniques using specimens artifacts and museum objects.
  • Supervise and guide program assistants and volunteers offering mentorship and feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with caregivers and serve as a point of contact for camper needs or concerns.
  • Uphold all ROM Summer Club protocols related to scheduling materials use and camper care.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Postsecondary degree or equivalent in education or a museumrelated discipline such as art culture history or natural sciences.
  • Minimum of three 3 years of experience instructing children in educational or camp settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and manage groups of children in an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts and implement effective behaviour and classroom management strategies.
  • Experience developing and delivering educational content that incorporates DEAI principles and supports a range of learning styles.
  • Assets (not required but considered strong advantages):
    • Formal teaching qualifications (OCT or equivalent).
    • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
    • Education or experience in science communication early childhood learning film/video production photography ceramics leadership training storytelling environmental education illustration or tabletop gaming.

Priority will be given to qualified internal and returning applicants.
