Role: DevOps Engineer

Department: Digital Data and Technology Team

Location:Carbrook Sheffield

Salary:

Contract Type: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join the Digital Data and Technology Team on a permanent basis. This role involves managing tools and testing environments central code control maintaining development standards and writing software that automates systems to enhance policing operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Underpin good development processes including managing tools and testing environments.
  • Write software that automates systems and processes.
  • Maintain central code control and development standards.
  • Work with other team members including developers IT staff and police officers to develop and maintain software solutions.
  • Identify and resolve issues that are preventing delivery and ensure smooth operation of software systems.

Skills and experience:

  • Programming and Build:Proficiency in programming languages such as Python Java or similar.
  • Automation Tools:Experience with automation tools like Jenkins Ansible or similar.
  • Cloud Services:Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Infrastructure as Code:Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Security:Understanding of information security practices and controls.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a prerequisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
