San Jose Behavioral Health is currently seeking a Behavioral Health Associate I to assist the nursing staff with comprehensive inpatient care and treatment within our new 133bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital. San Jose Behavioral Health is where adults and adolescents can receive comprehensive inpatient treatment for a range of behavioral and mental health disorders. Conveniently located in the heart of San Jose the hospital is easily accessible to residents in Santa Clara County San Mateo County and Alameda County. THIS POSITION IS Part Time 32 Hours (Day Shift 7:00AM 3:30PM Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday)
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Responsible for providing personal care services to patients at the facility under the direction of the Director of Nursing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure the wellbeing of patients and provide a positive supportive and structured environment.
- Responsible for conducting safety checks and ensuring that supervision is conducted at 15 minute intervals as noted in special precautions or in accordance with individualized supervision guidelines as needed.
- Document timely accurate and appropriate clinical information in patients medical record.
- Assist in providing a safe secure and comfortable environment for patients significant others and staff.
- Interact routinely with patients observe behaviors and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.
- Oversee or assist patients with activities of daily living including toileting bathing dressing grooming oral hygiene meals snacks hydration and changing bed linens.
- May obtain patients vital signs height and weight as assigned and document in patient record.
- Facilitate patient educationalrehabilitative groups which cover a variety of topics including social skills coping skills anger management and independent living skills.
- Engage patients in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals.
- Complete and maintain required documentation. Assist with followup and paperwork as required on incidents and events that may take place in the facility.
- May provide transportation for patient or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff member.
- OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer one year experience working with the specific population of the facility.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
First Aid CPR deescalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
COMPENSATION
Compensation for roles at San Jose Behavioral Health varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location role skill set and level of required by local law San Jose Behavioral Health provides a reasonable hourly range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California as set forth below.
SJBH Range $23.00/hour $28.00/hour DOE ** Additional Shift Differentials will apply PM/NOC**
