The role is part of the InSpace Systems business unit which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility onorbit.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers you will play a crucial role in developing and advancing our new Hardwareintheloop (HWIL / FlatSat) testbed for our Blue Ring spacecraft program. Blue Ring is the Swiss Army Knife of satellites and can support a variety of missions in Earth orbit domains out to the cislunar region including transporting and hosting payloads refueling satellites as well as performing data relay storage and compute via our inspace edge compute capability.

In collaboration with external customers and the internal development team you will design and build a vehiclelevel emulator of the Blue Ring Spacecraft. Your role will involve gathering requirements from collaborators and building the testbed to support a diverse range of development and operations activities. You will decompose test goals and objectives to deliver spacecraft avionics testbeds that meet system test plans and requirements. You will be directly responsible for developing and managing lab architecture including rack designs lab layout and facility integration. In addition you will choose acquire and if needed design or adapt signal emulation and data acquisition hardware. Furthermore you will develop integration solutions for spacecraft components and electronics such as component mounting grounding and harness design.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing coordinating and managing lab architecture encompassing rack configurations lab layout and facility integration.
  • Developing and implementing the HardwareintheLoop (HWIL) testbed as well as associated qualification plans and test procedures.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of software for testbed simulation environments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance required.
  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering aerospace engineering mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of industry background in avionics systems testing including planning and reporting of electronics testing.
  • Skilled in using standard electronic lab test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes DMMs power meters data acquisition cards).
  • Ability to independently develop test solutions with minimal mentorship.
  • Proficiency generating and reviewing 2D and/or 3D harness designs as well as maintaining system interconnect diagrams.
  • Proven track record of building trust encouraging positive and professional relationships and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance preferred.
  • Familiarity with C / C and Python programming.
  • Understanding of realtime operating systems and embedded control systems (including APIs interfaces and device drivers).
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as UDP/TCP I2C UART SpaceWire etc.
  • Proficiency in rapidly deploying test environments.
  • Expertise in developing HardwareintheLoop (HWIL / FlatSat) environments for spacecraft programs.
  • Skill in writing automated test scripts using Python or other scripting languages.
  • Ability to build 3D mechanical CAD drawings.
  • Knowledge of PCB schematic and layout design.


Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $126898.00$177656.85
