DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Microbiologist 1 you will conduct bacterial and viral disease diagnostic tests including molecular tests bacterial isolation phenotypic and biochemical characterization for the identification of animal pathogens. Primary duties include performing animal disease diagnostic tests using molecular methods entering test results into an electronic system and performing serological testssuch as ELISA for the detection of antibodies and antigens. Within this role it is essential to adhere to the proper care andmaintenance of laboratory equipment and ensure that testing supplies andreagents are ordered as necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Temporary fulltime employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime up to 1 day per month. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the Pennsylvania Veterinary Laboratory in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelors degree in microbiology;or
- A bachelors degree that includes 20 credits in microbiology cellular biology molecular biology or bacteriology and 12 credits in chemistry or biochemistry.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
