In order to best serve our students schools and families BPS is seeking MTEL Case Managers to
to help mitigate teacher shortages by assisting educators on waivers with the licensure process with the goal of improving retention in the District overall. This is important because research points to two complementary findings: retention is a persistent issue in urban school districts and students tend to have better learning outcomes when they have experienced teachers with whom they build trusting relationships.
Ideal candidates for this position will have excellent people skills a proficiency with data an open stance to learning and accepting feedback and a combined skill set of attention to detail and creative problem solving skills.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The MTEL Case Manager worksin the Office of Human Resources and meets regularly with waivered educators to facilitate the acquisition of initial licensure. The MTEL Case Manager will track educator progress in obtaining appropriate licensure and works with both school leaders and individual educators to assign appropriate supports.
The MTEL Case Manager will help build and maintain a database of waivered educators and work with both internal and external stakeholders to grow the number of licensed educators within the District.
The MTEL Case Manager will keep records of all artifacts relating to the educators progress within the licensing process and submit these artifacts to support subsequent educator waiver applications as required. The MTEL Case Manager will review educator MTEL results and Competency Review progress and will create appropriate support plans for each individual educator in their caseload. They will also track the progress of each educator as they complete the elements of this support plan and advise both School Leaders and the OHR Leadership on this progress.
The MTEL Case Manager will develop expertise in Massachusetts educator licensure policy and of the support systems available to help educators obtain licensure. The MTEL Case Manager will stay current on any policy changes impacting these areas and will advise on strategic changes required. The MTEL Case Manager will support individual educators school leaders and district administrators with their expertise as required.
The individual in this position will need to be both detail oriented well organized and peopleoriented. This person will be responsible for maintaining and creating meticulous records and materials while also needing to work across departments and with schools to ensure the implementation of the program. Extensive school visits may be required. The individual will provide needed insight and feedback into the growth and implementation of processes to support educator licensure and will be a key voice in ensuring that these systems develop and improve continuously.
The MTEL Case Manager will assist with other responsibilities as required including but not limited to: researching professional support opportunities for educators traveling to schools to provide direct support assisting with major projects within the OHR and other duties as assigned.
