What you will be doing

Reporting to the Director Office of Learning and Transformation the Senior Manager Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is responsible for:

  • Leading the operations of the CTL and ensuring that the work reflects the mission and values of the college and emphasizes a progressive pedagogical philosophy that prioritizes excellence equity innovation and student success.
  • Championing teaching and learning excellence at NSCC and working collaboratively with stakeholders throughout the College to integrate this commitment across the Colleges teaching practices and related operations.
  • Overseeing a dynamic team that provides essential and relevant teaching support to Academic Chairs and Faculty including but not limited to progressive instructional and learning technologies specialized teaching consultation and a broad range of faculty professional development.
  • Manage teaching development opportunities for Faculty across all types of programming and instructional modalities and develop and implement services and programming aimed at supporting teaching and learning excellence.

A key aspect of this role is fostering and nurturing community and innovation within the Centre for Teaching and Learning. The Sr. Manager has a lead role in clarifying and promoting NSCCs teaching and learning philosophy and in ensuring college teaching and learning policies practices and technologies keep pace with technology advancements emerging research and dynamic student and industry needs.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is A Masters degree in Education. Additional credentials in teaching adult education educational technology or diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) are considered an asset.

  • OR you possess a relevant Bachelors degree combined with certifications in teaching adult education educational technology or DEI

  • You have a minimum of ten 10 years of recent and related occupational experience in advancing teaching and learning in a postsecondary setting including a minimum of five years teaching experience at college or university level is required.
  • Experience includes progressively responsible senior leadership and management roles supporting faculty development and teaching excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with college leaders to define and support institutional policies operations and strategic direction.
  • Direct experience leading teaching and learning initiatives in a complex matrix postsecondary environment with a proven track record of supporting and inspiring teaching excellence.
  • Experience leading the enhancement of instructional strategies and the integration of teaching technologies across different types of programming and delivery modalities.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the successful resolution of complex challenges and issues related to teaching and diversity equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated technology savvy and information management skills with a high level of proficiency in educational technologies and digital environments including the full MicroSoft Office suite
  • Experience in researching developing and writing policy; strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and forecast outcomes
  • Experience in overseeing budgets and project management.
  • Experience representing an institution locally provincially and regionally with government external agencies professional associations institutions and organizations in matters related to teaching and learning.

  • Demonstrated expertise in creative problem solving and innovative strategic thinking.
  • Ability to inspire others through exemplary leadership practice and strong people management skills
  • Ability to work with limited direction usually within a complex and everchanging environment
  • Ability to lead through organizational change and ambiguity to create clarity
