Job Purpose The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily monthly and annual operations of the accounting team. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities - Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting team.
- Oversee month and yearend close processes ensuring accurate completion within specified timelines.
- Ensure monthly completion of all balance sheet reconciliations.
- Supervise accounting staff identifying training needs and areas for team development.
- Lead the budgeting process tracking preparing and maintaining detailed communications with the team for timely completion.
- Manage budget importing postapproval and collaborate with others to maintain a cohesive team.
- Monitor and analyze financial accounting data conducting monthly variance analysis and applying historical trends.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers internal staff and external vendors.
- Review and analyze quarterly provider payroll calculations confirming inclusion of necessary details.
- Assist upper management in establishing or improving policies procedures and workflows.
- Propose improvements and suggestions to upper management before implementing departmentwide.
- Assign projects and direct accounting staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Meet financial accounting objectives with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Create and review ad hoc reporting.
- Other duties as assigned
Experience - 5 years of Accounting experience. Healthcare accounting strongly preferred.
- 3 years of Management experience.
- Working knowledge of GAAP.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with reporting tools and/or SQL.
- Communicate in an effective manner.
- Collaborate with peers to complete projects.
- Ability to receive and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to engage in simple and complex problem solving.
Education - Bachelors degree in Accounting.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities Work Hours Travel Requirements - Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. and as needed to complete projects.
- Travel to medical offices may be necessary for the purpose of providing benefit education.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements - This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers scanners filing cabinets and fax machines.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
