Redwire Space has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President Engineering to join our team! This role will be instrumental in leading the creation of Redwires new Space Missions division including recruiting and training engineering talent development of engineering processes allocation of engineering resources and setting a standard of excellence for all Space Mission offerings and programs.
This business unit is geographically dispersed with employees in California Colorado and Florida. The position will report into one of our offices in San Jose CA Littleton CO Longmont CO or Jacksonville FL and will be expected in the office three days a week.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and recruitment of a world class satellitebased space missions engineering team.
- Develop team to address technical talent training or process gaps to create a highly engaged and resilient space mission focused development team.
- In partnership with cross functional business team build and maintain technically and cost discriminated offerings for spacecraft including a product management structure and configuration control plan.
- Serves as consultant to the business unit in longrange planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research and advancements in the field of space mission spacecraft design
- Conducts Gate review process and review boards.
- Implements and conducts peer review best practices.
- Forecasts for engineering staffing demand and allocates talent based on business needs.
- Analyzes project requests and proposals and engineering data to determine feasibility producibility cost and production time of space products.
- Participates in the IRAD process ensuring focus on growth technologies and .
- Evaluates new technologies for application in improving of nonrecurring engineering of space mission.
Ideal Experience
- Bachelors degree in engineering Aerospace or related field
- Minimum of 15 years related experience.
- Proven track record in developing strong relationships within the space industry with customers vendors suppliers and other business relationships.
- Must have substantial experience managing space programs with an emphasis in satellite and mission design
- Must have extensive experience hiring developing and mentoring top engineering talent
- Experienced with Gate review process managing review boards and managing Launch readiness.
- Ability to implement and conduct peer review best practices.
- Experience conducting Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and implementing Lessons Learned
- Experience with PLM strategies (Configuration management)
- Proficiency in Design reuse and Qualification Database management
- US citizenship required and ability to obtain a security clearance

$215000 $250000
How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwiredetermines pay for positions using local national and industryspecific survey data for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicants level of experience education and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally we consider the external market rate the amount we have budgeted internally and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
