The Opportunity:
Multnomah County Transportation currently has a vacancy for a fulltime journeylevel Sign Fabricator in our Roads Maintenance division. The Sign Fabricator is expected to use all sign making equipment including but not limited to vinyl plotters routers squeeze roll applicators engravers vacuum process tables and vinyl beveller machines.
The Sign Fabricator is expected to design plot fabricate and install building and road signs of considerable complexity using silk screens brushes and decals. This person would also interpret build design blueprints track and maintain assets in our GIS system Cartegraph. Other tasks include creating cost estimates and billing information for sign order invoices.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to demonstrate:
Advanced knowledge of the effective methods materials and practices needed to produce quality signs in the most costeffective manner in aluminum wood and plastics.
Working knowledge of and the ability to effectively use computer aided sign design and lettering equipment
Skill in the use of specialized tools and equipment used in sign manufacturing.
Ability to interpret and work from sketches penciled layouts blueprints and County State and Federal specification sheets.
Ability to consult with a wide range of customers and the general public to determine needs and suggest costeffective solutions.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade AND
Four years of professional experience manufacturing signs including signsubstrate production silkscreening processing fulltime sign assembly and wood shopproduction. Experience must also include the use of hand tools in the performance ofbasic carpentry tasks and general proficiency with appropriate technology andcomputerized sign design and lettering equipment AND
A valid drivers license is required.

Experience with asset management software.
Experience with MUTCD ODOT or ADA sign standards.
