Job Description
S&H Youth and Adult Services Inc. in Salisbury NC is currently hiring for a Substance Use Counselor for our Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program. Our ideal candidate is an experienced counselor who is attentive punctual reliable recoveryoriented has a passion for helping others and selfidentifies as a person in recovery.

Responsibilities
Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) counselor facilitates structured individual group and family group addiction counseling activities and services on an outpatient basis. SAIOP is designed to assist adults and adolescents to begin recovery and learn skills for recovery maintenance. The program counselor assists the SAIOP participants by providing individual and group counseling case management and life skills education. SAIOP group must be offered at least 3 hours a day at least 3 days a week with no more than 2 consecutive days between offered services. S&H Youth and Adult Services Inc. SAIOP counselors offer group Monday Wednesday and Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and/or 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent with 1 year of Substance Abuse treatment experience; or North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board Registrant
- Must be 18 years of age or older with the ability to read write and understand how to follow instructions.
- May not have any substantiated findings of abuse or neglect listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry
- No Sex Offender Charges and no violent criminal charges
- One year of supervised substance abuse counseling experience preferred
