Job Description

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PARTTIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

Womens Gender & Queer Studies at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for a pool of parttime lecturers with positions available as determined by need and funding for theacademic year beginning September 11 2025. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications experience and time base. Duties may include teaching lower and/or upperdivision general education classes and/or required classes in the Queer Studies and/or Womens & Gender Studies Minor programs.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5507$6677
Lecturer B: $6221$13224
Lecturer C: $6825$14523
Lecturer D: $8593$15221

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree or ABD in an appropriate discipline and ability to demonstrate expertise in teaching in Womens Gender and/or Queer Studies is required. Applicants must document excellence in teaching at the college or university level.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. preferred. Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering an equitable collaborative supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

All CSU employees are designated mandated reporters under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. As a condition of your employment you will be required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 and any subsequent amendments.

Following a conditional offer of employment a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
