Job Description
Clients s Cloud Engineering team is responsible for providing a reliable scalable secure performant and costeffective underlying infrastructure for all other departments to build upon. Principal Network Engineers as members of the Cloud Engineering team are responsible for designing implementing and maintaining reliable scalable secure performant and costeffective networking solutions across multiple data centers and public cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
Data center evaluation onboarding and management
ISP evaluation onboarding and management
Networking design configuration and monitoring
Hardware evaluation qualification onboarding and management
Capacity planning
Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) configuration management and centralized secrets storage to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure ensuring consistent and repeatable environments.
Implement robust observability solutions to monitor system performance (logs metrics traces) using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
Configure alerting for proactive issue resolution.
Oversee installation configuration patching and updating of network equipment to ensure reliable secure performant costeffective operation.
Optimize resource allocation to ensure efficient utilization of hardware capabilities.
Requirements
1. Strong Networking Design and Management Expertise
- Deep understanding of data center network architectures (switching routing firewalls VPNs SDN etc..
- Experience with ISP management evaluating and onboarding ISPs (e.g. contract negotiation peering BGP setup).
- Cloud networking experience (AWS VPCs Azure VNets GCP networking) must be comfortable working in public cloud networking setups.
2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Automation
- Strong experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or similar for network provisioning and management.
- Comfort with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible Chef Puppet) for network equipment automation.
3. Observability and Monitoring
- Must have handson experience with monitoring and observability tools specifically Prometheus and Grafana (logs metrics and traces).
- Ability to configure alerts and proactive monitoring for network health.
4. Hardware and Capacity Management
- Experience evaluating qualifying and managing network hardware (switches routers load balancers firewalls).
- Understanding of capacity planning principles to ensure networks are scalable and efficient.
5. Security and Patch Management
- Familiarity with patching securing and updating network infrastructure regularly.
- Understanding of zero trust principles encryption standards and secure network design.
Must Have Skills: 1 Candidate should be familiar with all aspects of writing PowerBI reports, dashboards. 2 Create a real-time dashboard in PowerBI for Executives 3 Familiar with lap, cubes, RedShift, Terradata, Universes, etc. 4 Experience as a reporting analyst 5 Quick prototyping in PowerBI 6 Expert at visualizations 7 Very good at SQL 8 Excellent Communication Skills 9 Must be able to jump in, no time for hand holding! 10 Must be able to start a week from offer of engagement.
