Job Description
SUMMARY
Conduct daily testing and quality control functions in a foundry that produces gray iron and ductile iron components and machine and assembly of those parts as well as purchased parts.
Authorities and Responsibilities: In all instances team members verifying quality have sufficient authority training and organizational freedom to:
- Identify and document quality issues for corrective actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconforming product.
- Recommend initiate implement and verify solutions for continuous quality and process improvement.
- Terminate the processing delivery and/or use of nonconforming items until proper disposition of material or rectification of deficient conditions has occurred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
1st Responsibility Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members.
- Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection respiratory protection hearing protection foot hand head and eye protection.
- Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles.
- Establish guidelines on what needs to be checked and what the quality standards are.
- Conducts routine surveillances of inprocess manufacturing activities.
- Analyzes and interprets testing results data troubleshooting when results fall out with the expected ranges.
- Compiles data into reports for facility management.
- Determine quality metrics for all manufacturing procedures.
- Develop and write procedures and work process flow control documents.
- Update our Quality Management System (QMS) with incidents fixes and improvements.
- Audit our internal systems and procedures based on ISO 9001 requirements.
- Monitor the entire production cycle and perform regular tests to identify potential malfunctions as early as possible.
- Oversees routine testing calibration and monitoring of equipment.
- Inspect products and materials as needed for defects and durability.
- Identify the root of technical issues and recommend fixes.
- Prepare reports on material returns and corrective actions (e.g. number of defective raw materials per order).
- Review current mechanical drawings and quality documentation.
- Set and track quality assurance goals (e.g. reduce average turnaround time for quality checks by 20.
- Coordinate with external quality assurance auditors and technicians to ensure legal compliance.
- Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the products.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelors degree in a qualityrelated field with two years hands on qualityrelated experience; four years experience in a quality control related function in a manufacturing environment may be substituted.
- Knowledge of measuring tools and equipment and ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
- Experienced in gage calibration and software control.
- Understanding of casting defects.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with fractions and decimal equivalents; able to convert fractions to decimals and in reverse; able to convert inches to millimeters and in reverse; able to convert inches to millimeters and in reverse. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to understand a mechanical drawing including the dimensions and tolerances detailed on that drawing.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Windows Outlook Excel and Word and related analysis software.
