The Professional Practice Clinician will report to the Program Director of the PostAcute & Seniors Services Program & the Director of Professional Practice. They will act as a clinical resource/expert to allied health staff (inpatient and outpatient areas) and will provide clinical teaching to allied health staff based on best practice to maximize the quality of care. The Professional Practice Clinician will promote interprofessional collaboration among allied health care teams and will support allied health staff in achieving ongoing continuing education.
- Participates in Program and Policy/Procedure development.
- Coordinates and participates in Quality Management through the development and implementation of quality monitoring tools that measure practice against standards.
- Assists staff in identifying learning needs.
- Coordinates designs develops implements and evaluates education materials for new and existing staff
- Monitor staff competencies and clinical practice on an ongoing basis.
- Actively collaborates with Program Director (PDs) Patient Care Manager (PCMs) Physicians and interdisciplinary teams to identify Program specific education needs and requirements. Designs the formal assessment of those needs and requirements and coordinates and delivers programs to address identified needs.
- Researches and utilizes available resources or develops new materials to support evidencebased teaching and patient care.
- Coordinates and operationalizes the design implementation and evaluation of interdisciplinary Preceptorship programs (student placements) and revises based on evaluation data.
- Collaborates with PCMs Human Resources and allied health staff to ensure that records of staff education are developed tracked and maintained.
- Responsible for developing reviewing and revising evidencebased policies and procedures related to clinical/professional practice and patient care and ensures staff are educated regarding new/revised policies. Follow up to ensure practice has changed in accordance with new/revised policy.
- Models professional practice through participation in ongoing education activities professional certification membership in a professional organization and reflective practice.
- Disseminates knowledge through publications in professional journals and presentations at provincial national and international conferences.
- Inspires supports and encourages professional growth and development through mentoring and coaching.
- Collaborates with other PPCs and Rehabilitation Managers (inpatients and outpatients) to develop and deliver the New Staff Orientation program as it relates to clinical competencies.
- Acts as a change agent to facilitate quality outcomes in patient care.
- Ensure that the profession specific standards of practice are maintained for all allied health disciplines.
- Provides direction and support for allied health staff undergoing regulatory college quality management processes.
- Develop and implement interprofessional models of care including the ongoing evaluation of priority systems and caseload management guidelines.
- Assume a leadership role on special projects as assigned by the PD and/or PCMs.
Qualifications :

- Must be an Allied Health Professional and have a current registration in good standing with a regulated college (OT PT or SLP) required
- Baccalaureate Degree in health related discipline required
- Preparation at the Masters level or actively pursuing preferred
- Minimum of 3 years demonstrated current clinical experience in an acute hospital environment
- Recent experience as a clinical educator required
- Skilled in the principles of adult learning
- Demonstrated research skills an asset
- Knowledge of best practices clinical practice guidelines and clinical management tools in allied health
- Strong interpersonal communication and team leadership skills
- Ability to prioritize/organize multiple projects with strict deadlines
- Ability to work in a selfdirected manner with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint Visio
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required

Hours: Monday to Friday various rotating 7.5 hour day shifts (hours are subject to change based on operational requirements)
