Work location will be onsite at the Raytheon Tucson office.

What You Will Do

  • You will design integrate and test mechanicalfocused hardware using computeraided design mechanical analyses and consistent coordination and communication across engineering disciplines to ensure successful hardware performance usually demonstrated through flight tests.
  • Support development or production leading proposal activities and technical management of mechanical engineering disciplines throughout the product life cycle.
  • Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed.
  • Work with engineers to propose design develop integrate and test hardware within the Advanced Airframes mechanical design department.
  • Contribute to one or more of our contractfunded and independent research efforts each of which is at a different phase of development (proposal design and integration/test). Engineers are generally assigned to one effort at a time but may work multiple efforts over the course of several years.
  • Solve engineering complex problems
  • Communicate with engineering team members and suppliers to analyze model and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements.
  • Work under limited supervision and act as the responsible engineer often in a project management role over entire subsystems within an effort. This often requires the ability to direct delegate and review the work of others.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • 8 years of experience in mechanical design or development and/or test preferably of defenserelated components or systems
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience in airframe development electronics packaging mechanisms for missiles or similar applications
  • Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Science Math or other Engineering disciplines
  • Experience with thermal and structural analyses or with analysts to specify requirements and design to environments.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) basic tolerance analyses and drawing practices and interpretation for mechanical hardware
  • Experience developing and executing a plan to development a mechanical component or subsystem
  • Experience with effective communication (written and verbal) during collaboration with others to document design actions and results to perform trade studies and to communicate to program management and customers through presentations and reports.
  • Typically viewed as a subject matter expert within the mechanical discipline. Have advanced knowledge of the mechanical development process
  • Experience coaching reviewing and delegating work to lowerlevel professionals

The salary range for this role is 101000 USD 203000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
