JAUNT is hiring for fulltime NONCDL Bus Operators. NO CDL REQUIRED BUT MUST OBTAIN WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HIRE
Jaunts operators are responsible for operating transit service vehicles to include transit vans up to 28 passenger buses used in public transportation in Charlottesville City and Albermarle County including Nelson Co. Greene Co. Fluvanna Co. Buckingham Co. and Louisa Co. Jaunts operators assume responsibility for the safety of our customers and equipment and performs routine vehicle inspections to ensure proper operations. Communicate appropriate information to customers supervisors and peers. Jaunts operators are responsible for overseeing the safety of passengers resolving problems providing outstanding customer service. Arrives on time and works independently with minimal supervision. NO CDL REQUIRED BUT MUST OBTAIN WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT.
Responsibilities
- Operates a transit vehicle to pick up transport and discharge passengers while adhering to route schedule.
- Maintains a pleasant and courteous demeanor.
- Performs a pretrip inspection and posttrip on transit vehicles for mechanical problems.
- Maintains radio contact with dispatchers to report vehicles breakdowns accidents interruption in service.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintains a professional appearance/observe operator dress code (safety vest Jaunt shirt)
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- A valid Virginia Drivers license and positive point balance.
- Ability to operate vehicle under safest possible conditions.
- Ability to successfully complete operator 4week training course.
- Ability to use good judgement and common sense in making quick safe decision with minimal supervision and adapt to constantly changing operating conditions.
- Ability to listen understand and carry out the information ideas and direction presented verbally or electronically by dispatcher or Road Supervisors.
SIGN ON BONUS pay out schedule
$250.00 once training is completed
$500.00 6 months after hire.
$750.00 after 1 year of successful employment
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing and passing a preemployment drug screen. Employment is contingent on a clean driving record that allows employee to be covered by Jaunts insurance. Continued employment is contingent upon adherence to Jaunts Substance Abuse Policy as well as on maintaining a clean driving record.
