Pantheon Data (a Kenific Holding company) is a private small business based in the Washington DC area. Pantheon Data was founded in 2011 initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the US Coast Guard. Our service offerings have grown in the past ten years including infrastructure resiliency contact center operations information technology software engineering program management strategic communications engineering and cybersecurity. We have also grown our customer base to include commercial clients. The company has used this experience to expand our service offerings to other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) the Department of Defense (DoD) and other Federal Civilian Agencies.

Position Overview

Pantheon Data is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Writer to join our dynamic communications team. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in writing and editing diverse communication materials conducting interviews and supporting various media and public relations efforts.

The Staff Writer supports the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Office of Corporate Communication (SEA 00D) by writing feature and straight news writing products as well as editorial support to the NAVSEA workforce.

NAVSEA SEA 00D supports the Command mission of designing building delivering and sustaining the U.S. Navys ships submarines and systems through its strategic communications efforts. Representing more than 86000 employees geographically dispersed across more than 40 locations worldwide SEA 00D is responsible for providing the strategic guidance planning and support for all enterprisewide internal and external communication including marketing requirements and legislative engagement. In this capacity the office provides direct support and strategic advisement to the Commander on all communication matters.

Responsibilities

  • Author feature and straight news writing products and provides editorial support directed to targeted audiences including: Members of Congress Department of Defense (DOD) industry stakeholders and the general public.
  • Develop statements reports fact sheets press releases longform articles public affairs guidance communications plans briefing cards as well as website or social media and brochures using plain language.
  • Attend external events e.g. think tanks congressional hearings symposium) and synopsize discussions to provide overall awareness of current discussions trends and talking points whitepapers and briefs.
  • Conduct media monitoring and analysis across communication channels.
  • Consult with appropriate subject matter experts to ensure information is presented accurately.
  • Experience in communication strategies and materials that support and promote engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Write and edit news copy (articles social media posts et cetera) according to Navy and Associated Press Stylebook.
  • Synthesize complex ideas and initiatives into easily understood communications for various audiences.
  • Experience in managing small and largescale projects that contribute to a larger strategic communications plan.
  • Manage competing priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Work effectively with NAVSEAs senior leaders in a highprofile and demanding office.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Four 4 years of civilian or military experience in corporate communications.
  • Experience with NAVSEA Congress the Navy and Department of Defense.
  • Experience to write and edit news copy according to Navy and Associated Press Style guidance.
  • Experience in research conducting interviews writing editing and obtaining release/approval for articles feature stories news releases and statements including electronic web based and hard copy material.
  • Ability to work effectively remotely in crossfunctional teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook Word Excel SharePoint and PowerPoint.

Education

Bachelors degree in English or Communications field.

Clearance Requirements

U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Work Location: Washington Navy Yard; Onsite 5 days per week

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $80000 $125000. This is not however a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather salary will be set based on experience geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
