Reporting to the Manager or designate the Health Services for Community Living (HSCL) Nurse participates in developing implementing monitoring and evaluating Health Services for Community Living for adult clients/patients with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings in accordance with the Vision and Mission statements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA). Utilizing knowledge and clinical expertise functions as a clinical resource providing consultation and inservice to nurses physicians other program teams service providers and other caregivers regarding the care and treatment of clients/patients. Formally advises caregivers and delegates nursing tasks as required. Responsible for client/patient assessment and the teaching in group and individual settings of service providers caregivers and staff with a variety of health education needs. Provides direct client/patient care teaching and problem solving.
Travel is a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant. Graduation from a recognized nursing program or evidence of an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Three 3 years recent related experience including two 2 years relevant community experience with adults with developmental disabilities. Knowledge of current theories technologies and practices in the caring for the developmentally disabled; of applicable legislation; and of child/adult education principles.
