Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA JCAHO DNV OSHA CMS and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the designated time frame.
Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud waste and abuse.
Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.
Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
This position may be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency situation to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of the UPHDM Hospital Emergency Incident Command System. Situations of a critical nature may require an individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained.
Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed expectations.
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelore of Science in Nursing (BSN). Preferred Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
EXPERIENCE:
Two or more years in Antepartum and Intrapartum nursing. One or more years as a Diabetes Educator with 400 hours or more of diabetes education. One or more years as a Perinatal Diabetes Educator.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
A state of Iowa nursing license to practice as an RN.Board CertifiedAdvanced Diabetes Management from American Association of Diabetes Educators (requires MSN) preferred. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) through (NCBDE). Licenses & Certifications must be maintained. Complete fifteen hours of relevant NCBDEapproved continuing education within two years of applying. Certification applicable to specialty area EFM certification or Intermediate fetal monitoring ACLS must be obtained within first year of hire. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three months from date of hire. Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for workrelated reasons.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:.
Writes reads comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional education and lifestyle backgrounds. Microsoft Office basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
