GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


As a Public Health Nurse serving Hot Springs County youll be a vital part of promoting health and wellness in Thermopolis and the surrounding rural communities. Public Health Nursing here is more than a jobits a calling to help individuals families and the entire county live healthier stronger lives.

In this role youll work closely with residents schools and local organizations to identify community health needs deliver preventive services and connect people with critical healthcare resources. Your work will directly support the longterm health and resilience of Hot Springs County.

What Youll Do:
Our Public Health Nurses provide essential services tailored to the needs of rural Wyoming communitiesfrom administering vaccines and disease screenings to supporting maternal and child health. Youll play a key role in public health preparedness health education and addressing local health trends with practical handson solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.


  • Conduct nursing assessments diagnoses treatments and evaluations in line with ANAs Public Health Nursing Standards.
  • Arrange and lead community health clinics and health education classes.
  • Support public health core functions prioritizing services that meet community needs.
  • Administer adult and child vaccines provide STI/HIV testing manage TB testing and more.
  • Provide Ryan White case management maternal and child home visitation lactation counseling and LT101 reviews.
  • Collaborate with the nurse manager and public health response coordinator on emergency preparedness activities.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


**Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming.
**Drivers license required.


KNOWLEDGE:



  • Knowledge of laws principles practices and techniques of professional nursing.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance of medical records charts reports and observations.
  • Knowledge of principles of nursing process and scientific process.
  • Knowledge of applying medical diagnosis and treatment to patient care.
  • Knowledge of scientific concepts as a basis for decisionmaking.
  • Knowledge of physical biological and behavioral sciences.
  • Knowledge of evaluation services and programs according to standards.
  • Knowledge of work management and leadership theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of federal state and local law pertaining to healthcare.
  • Knowledge of public health core functions and essential services.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:
Associates Degree in Nursing

Experience:
02 years of progressive work experience in Nursing with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN

Certificates Licenses Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

OR


Education & Experience Substitution:

35 years of progressive work experience Nursing with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN

Certificates Licenses Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

Necessary Special Requirements


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:



Must be able to:
  • Lift/transfer patients to different positions.
  • Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.
  • Restrain clients for treatments climb stairs to patient homes and drive long distances.
  • Travel throughout the state and to national conferences if requested.
  • Work evenings nights and /or weekends when the situation requires it.
