Eastern State Hospital located in Williamsburg Virginia was founded in 1773 with an emphasis on community focused mental health care. This stateoftheart campus situated on 500 acres consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of FORENSICE EVALUATOR (PSYCHOLOGIST III / PSYCHOLOGY ASSOCIATE III).
This position will provide forensic assessments (Competency to Stand Trial and Mental State at the Time of the Offense) for defendants ordered to inpatient treatment at a state facility. An array of forensic and psychological assessments and services will be provided to include general psychological assessments tests of malingering/feigning neuropsychological screenings treatment team consultation and program development for pretrial defendant. Court testimony as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of clinical conditions that affect competency to stand trial sanity at the time of the offense. Understanding of relevant Virginia code and psycholegal criteria for persons found IST Sanity at the Time of the Offense and persons adjudicated NGRI. Knowledge of group and individual treatment modalities for forensic populations knowledge of hospital/community/agency resources experience providing expert testimony and ability to provide consultation and/or training to the behavioral health and legal community.
Additional Considerations
Training and experience in the delivery of forensic psychological evaluation and treatment preferred.
