Job Description
The Security Guard / Public Safety Ambassadors protect and guard University property (both clinical and nonclinical); maintain order among the public and the UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires accidents and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts. The job will involve the ability to push and pull up to 25 pounds; stand and walk for extended periods of time; carry and lift 2130 pounds and run short distances.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The hourly rate for this position is between $21.16$28.45 and the rate offered will depend on applicable experience. Department Description
The UCSF Police Department provides contemporary police services including criminal investigation community policing crime prevention and suppression emergency management and site security services to a daily population of over 60000 people at University and contract locations. Founded in 1864 UCSF includes the 107acre Parnassus campus that is home to graduate professionals in dentistry medicine nursing and pharmacy; a graduate division for pre and postdoctoral scientists; UCSF Medical Center; UCSF Childrens Hospital; and Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute. UCSF is considered one of the nations premier health sciences teaching training and research centers. UCSF is the only UC campus dedicated exclusively to the health sciences. Additionally the department has expanded police and security services to the Mission Bay Campus and Benioff Oakland Childrens Hospital.
The department has achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).
