Purpose:

Contributes to the overall success of US Global Transaction Banking (GTB) by overseeing day to day operations of the business leading strategic planning and owning executive communications. This is a role positioned to add value to the GTB executive team by providing expertise and knowledge for the full spectrum of the daytoday business activities and strategic guidance.

Accountabilities:

Supports the development of U.S. GTB strategic priorities by:

  • Contribute to the definition and development of the U.S. GTB strategy and roadmap through research of global payments trends and disruptions and the analysis of their applicability to markets within Scotiabanks global footprint
  • Work directly with business line partners to discover and define GTB opportunities in alignment with the Banks global strategic priorities
  • Develop approaches to quantify and articulate the value of opportunities discovered
  • Design and lead problem solving sessions workshops and interviews with crossfunctional / business line working team members and subject matter experts
  • Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcomes to senior leaders within the Bank
  • Support annual business planning activities
  • Prepare executivelevel materials articulating strategies opportunities and daytoday business activities

Support the daytoday management of the business:

  • Oversee daytoday operations by partnering with GTB and key support and control functions
  • Coordinate and ensure completion of adhoc requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to reporting and expense management partnering closely with Finance
  • Own and execute the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for US GTB
  • Independently prioritize and drive crossfunctional initiatives
  • Champion a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge

Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What Youll Bring:

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Exceptional attention to detail coupled with strong editing skills
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office applications particularly: PowerPoint Excel and Word
  • High organizational and project management skills being able to handle a large number of concurrent highpriority activities and requests
  • Strong curiosity and research capabilities to obtain background information and insights for projects which the incumbent may or may not be thoroughly familiar with
  • Good understanding of the GTBs objectives strategies and structure is also required
  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships across a large number of diverse stakeholder groups (including Senior Executives)
  • Exceptional communication skills with knowledge and experience across multiple platforms (i.e. print visual media online etc. with a demonstrated ability to drive employee engagement
  • Expert time management project management planning and organization skills to oversee and execute on multiple complex initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work autonomously or collaboratively.
  • Proven track record in strategy development including indepth experience and demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary initiatives of varying sizes and complexity efficiently and effectively ensuring all elements of change are considered understood and managed.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize several concurrent projects.
  • Excellent visionary planning and analytical skills.
  • Thorough understanding of highquality SVP level standards in terms of presentation material and written communication.
  • The incumbent should be able to work in a fast paced and energized environment deal with tight deadlines solve complex problems and balance conflicting priorities.
