The Dean of Students supports the overall academic behavioral and cultural success of Coral Academy of Science South Elementary by working collaboratively with the principal and administrative team. This role focuses on student discipline Section 504 coordination and school climate while maintaining a visible and approachable presence for students families and staff.
The Dean of Students is expected to promote fairness equity and inclusivity ensuring all students and staff feel respected and supported. Even when responsibilities fall outside the formal job description the Dean will work in collaboration with the principal and contribute actively to the success of schoolwide operations and events.
Key Responsibilities
Student Behavior & Support
Serve as the primary point of contact for Tier 1 and Tier 2 student behavior concerns.
Lead and document student behavior conferences restorative conversations and discipline interventions.
Collaborate with teachers to develop effective classroom management strategies.
Maintain uptodate and organized discipline records.
Support and monitor behavior intervention and restorative justice plans.
Section 504 & Intervention Coordination
Coordinate and lead Section 504 meetings with teachers and families.
Ensure accurate and compliant implementation of 504 plans.
Assist with MTSS support and the coordination of behavior and academic interventions.
Document and track all related services meetings and accommodations.
Community & Family Engagement
Attend and support family engagement events such as open houses festivals and academic nights.
Ensure a consistent admin presence during afterschool events unless excused for extenuating circumstances.
Represent the school positively and professionally to students families and community members.
Collaboration & Professional Culture
Collaborate regularly with the principal and admin team to align on goals culture and student needs.
Maintain equity and fairness in all decisionmaking regarding student support and discipline.
Participate actively in duties or activities even those outside the scope of the job description.
Contribute to a positive teamfirst administrative culture that supports staff and students alike Professional Leadership
Attend weekly admin and leadership meetings.
Provide staff development on student behavior traumainformed practices and classroom culture.
Serve on hiring committees and assist with onboarding and mentoring new staff.
Support schoolwide assessments safety plans and other operations as needed.
Required Qualifications
Hold or be eligible for a Nevada teaching license (administrative license preferred).
Minimum 3 years of successful teaching experience (elementary preferred).
Strong skills in student discipline conflict resolution and cultural responsiveness.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
Preferred Skills & Traits
Demonstrated leadership experience or strong leadership potential.
Familiarity with Section 504 processes MTSS and restorative practices.
Organized flexible and teamoriented.
Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus.
Passionate about building a safe inclusive and academically strong school environment.

This position is eligible for Coral Academys full benefits package including medical dental vision and PERS retirement.
Benefits begin the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment.
Employees must complete fingerprinting upon hire and every five years.

Salary
Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year.
