Job Description Summary
Performs inpatient and outpatient adult echo and vascular studies under the supervision of a registered sonographer including transthoracic echocardiography transesophageal echocardiography and contrast echocardiography carotid duplex studies upper/lower extremity arterial testing upper/lower extremity venous studies some abdominal vascular studies. Diligently prepares appropriate paperwork for echo and vascular studies. Learns the department and routines. Ensures that care is delivered to assigned patients in accordance with medical orders and is documented in clinical records. Job Description/Summary:
Performs inpatient and outpatient adult echo and vascular studies under the supervision of a registered sonographer including transthoracic echocardiography transesophageal echocardiography and contrast echocardiography carotid duplex studies upper/lower extremity arterial testing upper/lower extremity venous studies some abdominal vascular studies. Diligently prepares appropriate paperwork for echo and vascular studies. Learns the department and routines. Ensures that care is delivered to assigned patients in accordance with medical orders and is documented in clinical records. Intention of working with the organization after graduation for 12 years.
Minimum Training and Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Current student of an accredited formal program in echo and vascular ultrasound.
Additional relevant courses and/or degrees preferred.
Position Responsibilities:
Performs echo and vascular studies as required under the supervision of a registered sonographer including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms contrast echocardiography carotid duplex studies upper/lower extremity arterial testing upper/lower extremity venous studies some abdominal vascular studies.
Maintains an excellent understanding of normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy as well as pathology.
Diligently prepares appropriate reports for echo and vascular studies.
Learns the department/hospital routines in the various hospitals served.
Maintains rapport with physicians and other hospital staff.
Ensures that appropriate care is delivered to patients in accordance with medical orders and is documented in clinical records. Required Licensure Certifications Registrations:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

(Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
