Position: Surgical Neurophysiologist
Job Duties:
1. Provide intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) care for patients during surgical procedures and communicate monitoring information to the surgeon and the surgical team throughout the case.
2. Obtain a detailed medical history of the patient and consult with the supervising physician and/or surgeon regarding patient structures at risk and modalities to be monitored during the operative procedure.
3. Collect all patient data medical history and paperwork and store it in company IONM workflow software.
4. Displays prints and labels waveforms to hard copy for archiving interpretation marking measuring and calculating information such as latencies amplitudes and conduction times following established guidelines and protocols.
5. Prepare accurate and timely IONM logs files and work/technical sheets including a technical description of the IONM modalities with emphasis on clinical observations in order to assist with preparation of the physicians final report.
6. Troubleshoot equipment issues with the assistance of the remote monitoring physician and/or IT department to assure accurate data collection.
7. Infrequent traveling requirements are possible (up to twice per year). Travel is possible within the Northern or Southern regions of the United States for continued education.

Special skills requirements:
1. Review of patient medical records xrays and surgical plans. Conferred with MD/Fellow regarding structures at risk and expected complications. Obtained agreement on neurophysiological data to be recorded.
2. Consultation with anesthesia team on the anesthetic protocol required for optimum recording of the patients neurophysiological signals. Ensured anesthetic protocol was followed and distinguished effects of anesthetic agents on neurophysiological data.
3. Calibrate and evaluate Cadwell equipment makes adjustments for the optimization of recorded physiological data. Appropriate modification of stimulation parameters and/or recording paradigms to ensure salient data acquisition.
4. Records troubleshoots identifies and interprets neurophysiological signals and reports to the surgical team with recommendation for specific intervention as needed.
5. Recognizes normal patterns normal variants and abnormal patterns as well as understands the medical and pharmacological/anesthetic conditions that influence the recording of IOM modalities.
6. Must have a certification for Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) from the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ARBET).
Salary: $95000 /yr
