Job Description
Gileads mission is to discover develop and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with lifethreatening illnesses worldwide. As the Associate Director Clinical Business Strategy & Operations you are the project manager for assigned projects of increasing complexity. You will manage the full project management lifecycle for assigned projects and act as a functional area expert. You will develop and manage project plans project timelines communications change management meetings and other interactions to ensure project deliverables are met ontime to the quality expected and withinbudget. You will represent the Project Team to various partners and stakeholders. You will typically manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will also contribute to short and longrange Business Strategy & Operations (BS&O) strategies plans and infrastructure development. You may also have leadership responsibilities for the BS&O team located on the Foster City campus.
This postion is located ONSITE in Foster City CA (Tuesday Thursday full days) and is not eligible for relocation local candidates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Direct moderately complex department/crossfunctional specific programs and/or initiatives.
- Supervise moderately complex project/initiative communications (including change management) and ensures that all stakeholders are fully informed and knowledgeable of project activities and their status.
- Provide Project Management support for strategic programs/projects/initiatives; attends subteam meetings; organizes ad hoc working groups as needed.
- Provide leadership to the team and functional areas to anticipate and identify complex project issues which pose a challenge to achieving strategic goals; proposes and implements plans to resolve such issues and execute corrective actions.
- Identifies and manages critical path activities and resources.
- Works in partnership with project sponsor/lead and stakeholders to ensure timely efficient and effective meetings and progress on activities between meetings.
- Work in partnership with project sponsor/lead to develop gain approval and execute on strategy.
- Leads project meetings and coordinates moderately complex team operations and communications.
- Organizes and/or leads preparation of highquality documents for review by internal and external stakeholders. May author documents for leadership teams.
- Tracks and prepares project information and activities including minutes charter timelines budgets action items and project specific deliverables. Ensures integration of project timing scope and resources.
- Represents Project Team to functional area leadership and/or steering committees for major strategic decisions.
- May develop and implement continuous improvement and optimization initiatives across the department.
- Ensures project work complies with established practices policies and processes and any regulatory or other requirements.
- Influence and drive an inclusive and engaging BS&O culture at the Foster City location. Facilitate facetoface collaboration with Clinical Trial Capabilities and Clinical Operations colleagues on the Foster City campus.

- Recognized as a functional area expert for specific products programs projects and/or initiatives.
- Possess knowledge of full cycle project management from project startup to closeout and has shown ability to effectively apply this knowledge to achieve targeted project outcomes.
- Displays advanced knowledge of project management best practices and tools and has shown ability to apply these to improve project efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Experience with Pharma industry knowledge including knowledge of drug development and is able to flex own knowledge across a variety of project types.
- Developed advanced knowledge of functional area as evidenced by independence in designing implementing and managing project team plans deliverables and resource management.
- Demonstrates expertise in developing and managing project scope deliverables risks and resource requirements.
- Advanced level of organizational awareness and knowledge of change management with the ability to help teams anticipate plan and adapt to an evolving environment.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and Ten Years Experience

PhD and Two Years Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience typically includes 5 years leading crossfunctional project management activities within the biopharma industry; building managing and articulating comprehensive complex crossfunctional plans.
- Experience 2 years) in clinical trial management/oversight (including development of operational plans study tools and study plans). Equivalent clinical operations experience may be considered.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or other PM certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Proven effectiveness managing project teams in life sciences including effectiveness in preparing project documentation for senior leadership determining the appropriate scope of projects helping project teams develop creative alternative scenarios and acting effectively as a thought partner to others.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced knowledge and skill with Microsoft Project Microsoft Excel Smart Sheets and other reporting and tracking tools.
- When needed ability to travel on a limited basis.

The salary range for this position is: $182070.00 $235620.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation including experience qualifications and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus discretionary stockbased longterm incentives (eligibility may vary based on role) paid time off and a benefits package.
