Position Overview
The Office of Family and Community Advancement (OFCA) at Boston Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and detailoriented Data Analysis and Marketing Intern to join our team. This role will support OFCAs mission to foster stronger family and community engagement through datadriven strategies and impactful communication efforts.
Working under the supervision of the Director of Data Analysis Marketing and Systems the intern will assist in collecting analyzing and visualizing data to support internal strategy and external communications. The intern will also contribute to marketing and outreach efforts that amplify the voice and work of OFCA throughout the district and community.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Visualization
- Conduct routine data analysis using tools such as RStudio Excel Looker Studio and Power BI to support ongoing initiatives.
- Build interactive internal and externalfacing dashboards in Google Looker Studio that track key metrics and promote transparency among stakeholders.
- Identify trends and generate meaningful insights to support decisionmaking and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support the development of data visualizations and reports for various stakeholder groups including district leadership families and community partners.
- Maintain and update highlevel dashboards to reflect progress on OFCAs priority initiatives.
Marketing & Communications
- Draft and edit clear engaging written communications for internal and external audiences including newsletters flyers reports and presentations.
- Collaborate on the creation of innovative marketing strategies to better engage families partners and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the coordination and of marketing campaigns and events.
- Ensure all communications are aligned with OFCAs branding and messaging guidelines.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and presentations; share data findings clearly and effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong problemsolving and analytical skills with a solid understanding of statistical principles and data storytelling.
- Proficiency in RStudio Google Looker Studio Google Sheets/Excel and ideally other data tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Demonstrated experience creating dashboards and using data to support strategic planning or marketing efforts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
- Selfmotivated with a strong work ethic and ability to take initiative while also following direction.
- Creative mindset with a passion for finding new ways to communicate and engage with audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in fields such as Data Science Marketing Business Public Policy Education Communications or related.
- Previous experience in a public sector education or nonprofit setting.
- Familiarity with Boston communities and a commitment to equity diversity and inclusion.
