POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Capital Planning and Development Officer the Construction Site Manager (Major Capital Projects) is a key member of CHEOs Redevelopment Projects delivery team. This job assists with the construction planning and construction delivery oversight during project and implementation phases.

The Construction Site Manager (Major Capital Projects) oversees construction activities on multiple major capital projects ensuring they are delivered on time and on budget while meeting CHEO and enduser requirements. The Construction Site Manager communicates project priorities to the General Contractor(s) and serves as CHEOs construction representative and liaison between the project delivery and operations teams and the General Contractor(s).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan organize and provide oversight and evaluation of construction projects from start to finish according to preset schedules specifications and budgets.

  • Provide safety oversight through CHEOs Safety Policies Safety Reporting (SRS) and monitoring of Contractor and subtrades safety conformance to policies and procedures by.

  • Provide leadership by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Project delivery teams Operations and Asset Management team and with the various General Contractors and Subtrades.

  • Manage and maintain Work Permit and Shutdown processes in accordance with CHEOs Method of Procedures (MOP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) guidelines.

  • Ensure compliance with CHEOs policies and procedures including Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Code of Conduct and Environmental guidelines.

  • Understand and stay informed on CCDC contracts subcontracts project related purchase orders site instructions and change notices/order/directives to ensure project scope and terms and conditions are properly executed by the General Contractor(s).

  • Assist in the identification of and provide advice on observed construction deficiencies; value engineering options; schedule interruptions and/or shutdowns; interferences or complexities; and other project related risks and issues.

  • Assist participate and identify with the project delivery teams ongoing project and organizational risks and risk mitigation strategies throughout the life of the project.

  • Attend project startup close out milestone design and drawing review meetings as well as biweekly construction meetings on active projects.

  • Ensure that General Contractor(s) site setup visual communications board and evidence of companies SSSP and Standard processes and systems are in place monitored and updated as required.

  • Ensure all Contractors material deliveries to site have been coordinated with CHEOs Material Management and Security teams.

  • Proactively prevent and identify potential claim delays ensuring construction processes and schedules remain uninterrupted and efficient.

  • Provide monthly updates to the project delivery team on project timeline forecast and actual completion schedules.

  • Provide leadership by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Project delivery teams Operations and Asset Management team and with the various General Contractors and Subtrades.

  • Monitor and evaluate General Contractor performance with regards to safety and of scope of work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal Record Check (Essential)

  • Minimum of a college diploma in Construction Management Project Management Engineering or a related field. (Essential)

  • Red Seal Certification is considered an asset. (Preferred)

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in construction oversight and management in Health Care or ICI (Industrial Commercial and Institutional) construction markets. (Essential)

  • Experience working on construction sites in Ontario. (Essential)

  • Up to date WHIMIS and Working from Height training (Essential)

  • Experience in effective oversight of coordination activities schedule adherence and reporting to ensure consistent completion of projects ontime on budget and to enduser satisfaction. (Essential)

  • Ability to master projectspecific software systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite (ex. Project Excel Word Outlook PowerPoint etc. Adobe Bluebeam and Project Management Software. (Essential)

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including but not limited to: reading and interpretation of drawings and specifications; construction methodologies; project sequencing; potential challenges; timeline management; all consultant and trade disciplines; cost control; and QA/QC. (Essential)

  • Familiarity with relevant construction laws building codes and industry regulations to maintain compliance and safety standards throughout all project phases. (Essential)

  • Experience in occupied and fully functional spaces weekend work and fastpaced project experience (Preferred).

  • Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred)

RSUM DES FONCTIONS:

Relevant du chef de la planification et du dveloppement des immobilisations le ou la gestionnaire de chantier de construction (grands projets dimmobilisations) est un membre cl de lquipe de ralisation des projets de ramnagement du CHEO. Il sagit dun rle de soutien la planification et la supervision de la ralisation des travaux de construction pendant les phases dexcution et de mise en uvre du projet.

La personne titulaire du poste supervise les activits de construction dans le cadre de plusieurs grands projets dimmobilisations en veillant ce quelles soient ralises temps et conformment au budget tout en rpondant aux exigences du CHEO et des utilisateurs finaux. Elle communique les priorits du projet lentrepreneur gnral et agit titre de reprsentant du CHEO en matire de construction et dagent de liaison entre les quipes de ralisation et dexploitation du projet et lentrepreneur gnral.
