Job Description
Spotsylvania County Public Schools Office of Student Support Services is seeking a DevelopmentalSupport Specialisttoprovide specialized support to teachers and paraeducators of students accessing developmental delay programs (K2 and early childhood (ECSE) programs in the county.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team whose purpose is to provide appropriate educational programs for special needs students.
- Provides specialized support to teachers at all levels who need assistance in meeting the needs of students with learning disabilities and challenges.
- Provides specialized consultative support to Student Assistance Teams (SAT) Child Study Teams (CST) and Individualized Educational Plan Teams (IEP) to meet student needs in their educational settings.
- Assists in screening evaluating and recommending placements of students for the divisions special education program.
- Keeps abreast of recent developments in education for special needs students and shows evidence of continuing professional growth.
- Complies with all special education procedures from the division wide Special Education Handbook and the Virginia State Regulations Governing Students with Disabilities.
- Develops and implements professional development programs as assigned.
- Leadership and coordination of Learning Support and Multiple Disabilities programs across the division.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
- An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience as applicable.
Preferred
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
- Prior teaching experience within a public school system
