Join UChicago Medicine as a Special Procedures Nurse (SPN). In this role you will support the Ambulatory Float Pool team at our Hyde Park campus.

Eligible for a SignOn Bonus up to $5000!

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Ambulatory Float Pool teamsupporting multiple outpatient clinics in Hyde Park and surrounding locations. This role provides the opportunity to deliver highquality patient care across avariety of specialties including Cardiology Neurology Oncology Primary Care Geriatrics Pediatrics and more.

Under the direction of an Attending Physician or a licensed independent practitioner RN provides technically complex and high risk nursing care services to patients which may include one or more of the following categories: sedation intravenous infusions complex procedures e.g. lumbar puncture cardiac catherization; This may also include specialized monitoring during procedure and recovery phase; The RN may have Charge Nurse responsibility for his/her assigned unit.

  • Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPAA legislation.
  • Performs a variety of clinical and research procedures with efficiency and high standards of quality; assures that the proper protocol is used for each sedation.
  • Provides patient care in a compassionate and empathetic manner; demonstrates knowledge of agespecific considerations in the provision of care. Involves a multidisciplinary team as needed to support patient and family psychological social and spiritual needs.
  • Accurately completes required patient assessment documentation and interpretations for each patient encounter. Possesses sound professional judgment for timely physician intervention as needed. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate actions initiates appropriate life supporting interventions while communicating appropriately with physicians.
  • Maintains nursing equipment and work areas in proper working condition; reports malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to the appropriate person. Maintains a neat and clean work area with equipment. Maintains adequate inventory control of all necessary supplies. Emergency equipment maintained with adequate availability good working order and restocks as needed with a fiscal awareness and accountability.
  • Interfaces with customers specifically patients families visitors and UCMC staff in a professional positive and accommodating manner; demonstrates knowledge of AIDET principles and employs in all situations; demonstrates flexibility in accommodating special needs of customers whenever possible.
  • Performs all required Quality Assurance testing as indicated or as required by UCMC

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six 6 to nine 9 months of hire and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months.
  • ADN nurses receive 100 tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois
  • Current CPR ACLS and/or PALS Certifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN degree or higher preferred.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a fulltime equivalent 1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
