Are you passionate about helping others and seeking a meaningful career with growth potential The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) seeks dedicated customerfocused professionals to join our Christiansburg Customer Service Center team. Were hiring a Customer Service Generalisteager to deliver toptier service and thrive in a fastpaced teamoriented environment.

What Youll Do

As a Customer Service Generalist youll be key in providing essential DMV services to Virginia residents. Responsibilities include:

  • Explaining DMV policies procedures and regulations clearly to customers

  • Issuing identification cards and processing various applications

  • Administering vision screenings driver knowledge exams and road tests

  • Handling vehicle registrations titles taxes fees and related services

  • Ensuring transactions are accurate and secure including handling cash and credit card payments

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) based in Richmond proudly serves over 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID cardholders and over8.4 million registered vehicles across the Commonwealth. Beyond individual customers DMV supports a wide range of partners including automobile dealers fuel tax clients rental agencies driving schools other government entities local municipalities and nonprofit organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with diverse customers and stakeholders especially in highpressure environments.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service and resolve inquiries efficiently.
  • Attention to detail for accurate processing and verification of transactions.
  • Problemsolving skills for resolving customer issues in fastpaced environments.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word Excel).
  • Ability to read understand and interpret complex laws policies and DMV procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and accurately apply DMV regulations and procedures to resolve customerspecific situations.

Additional Considerations

  • Familiarity with DMV processes including policies and procedures related to licensing registration and titling.
  • Understanding of public sector operations including government processes regulations and customer service protocols.
  • Proven experience in customer service handling inquiries and resolving escalated customer issues
  • Demonstrated administrative experience such as document processing data entry and maintaining records.
  • Security Clearances: A criminal background check is required to ensure the integrity of DMV operations.
  • Drivers License: Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license with fewer than 6 demerit points.
  • Instructor Certification: Must be 21 years of age and maintain the instructor certification for administering road tests.
