Job Description

Butterworth Hospital 100 Michigan St Grand Rapids.

Job Summary

The Human Milk/Formula Technician position is responsible for the preparation distribution inventory and management of Human Milk (HM) Donor Human Milk (DHM) and infant/pediatric formulas. Ensures safe feedings for patients in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Essential Functions

  • Interprets physician and Registered Dietitian orders for feeding. Scans all human milk donor milk and formula additives into EPIC to mix accurate feedings.

  • Utilizes electronic medical record and other software programs.

  • Cleans mixing tools and work area. Monitors stock of supplies and expiration dates.

  • Prepares formula and breastmilk mixtures using aseptic techniques in a clean area. Considers allergens and prevents crosscontamination.

  • Uses techniques and tools to precisely measure liquids and powders.

  • Follows standard work to maintain patient safety.

  • Delivers prepared feedings to nursing units.

  • Collaborates/communicates with other Human Milk & Formula Techs Lead Techs Registered Dietitians nursing staff and patients families.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • CRTServSafe Handler NRA National Restaurant Association 30 Days.

Preferred

  • Associates degree or equivalent College level courses in Nutrition Health or Science related field

  • 1 year of relevant experience relevant area
