Job Description Summary

The Department of Medicine/Division of Cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a highly motivated talented academic clinician to join the Division as our new Director of the Gazes Cardiac Research Institute. Desirable candidates will hold the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor commensurate with experience and credentials on the tenured academicclinician track. The Departments goal is to grow research and scholarly output as a whole while building a nationally recognized research program.

This position will report directly to the Division Director of Cardiology. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated expertise in leading research in Cardiology a track record of independentlyfunded research publication in highimpact peerreviewed journals strong mentorship skills and clear evidence of promoting the academic careers of fellow faculty and trainees.

In addition to being a productive researcher the Director will oversee and enhance the scholarly and research programs by mentoring faculty advanced practice providers and trainees. As such the director shall work closely with fellowship directors as well as appropriate chiefs directors and vice chairs. The director will be charged with expansion of the Divisions investigative research and extramural funding portfolios.

The Director must possess the interpersonal skills to engage inspire and work within and across disciplines in a large diverse organization. Interfacing with other departments and centers in order to enhance visibility of Cardiology research within the larger College of Medicine and University research communities will be required.

Job Description

Candidate must be an MD or equivalent Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Certified/Eligible in Cardiology for the position of noninvasive cardiologist with focus on outreach practice building and cardiac imaging. Candidate should have experience in Echocardiography Stress Echocardiography Nuclear Cardiology as well as a documented record of excellence in clinical care.
