Course Description: Students will examine the role of typography in the context of Information Design. Topics include principles of typography and typeface design page organization concept development and the historical foundations of typography. Students will use typographical principles and methods of visual organization to solve assigned communication problems.

Masters degree min. in Information Design or related discipline required.
A min. three years industry or professional experience.
Capacity to work cooperatively across multiple sections of a course.
Experience having taught at a postsecondary level in Information Design Visual Communication or related discipline for a min. of 1 semester.
Coursespecific experience required:
Demonstrated professional specialization or focus in typography and page layout / editorial design as well as background in visual communication.
Demonstrated capacity to teach typography and visual communication.

Course Description: Introduction to the principles and best practices of effective information design for both print and electronic media. The course includes such topics as information types information categorization and hierarchies types of organizational patterns message and document genres structural markup languages structured information design and information product development processes.

The Faculty of Business Communication Studies & Aviation comprises the Bissett School of Business the School of Communication Studies and the Aviation Program. The Bissett School of Business offers a fouryear Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with majors in accounting human resources general management (with concentrations in innovation and entrepreneurship social innovation). Students in the Bissett School of Business can take a fouryear Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. The Aviation Program is housed in the Department of International Business Supply Chain and Aviation and offers a twoyear Aviation Diploma and the newly launched fouryear Bachelor of Aviation Management. Students in the School of Communications Studies take a fouryear Bachelor of Communication Studies (BComms) and can pursue majors in Broadcast Media Studies Information Design Journalism and Public addition to the two degrees and their majors students are offered a variety of minors concentrations and certificates to complement their major.
