Job Description
- Education training and/or experience in communications community relations public relations partnerships sponsorships and/or training and program development or a related field
- Experience leading project and change management initiatives in a large and complex organization
- Leadership experience in a large and complex organization
- A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered
Assets:
- Incident Command System (ICS) training level 100 200 and/or 300
- Experience with emergency services fire services in particular
- Experience in Equity Diversity and Inclusion programs with relevant certificates like GBA
Skills required for success:
- Ability to lead with excellence and accountability fostering an inclusive proactive innovative and respectful culture within the Fire Service
- Skill in fostering a respectful workplace using a valuesbased influencer approach and working effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in providing excellent team leadership through development coaching performance evaluation feedback and succession planning
- Enhanced ability to communicate and collaborate with a wide range of partners including senior management staff union representatives businesses and the public
- Capacity to foster a culture of professionalism and accountability through performance measurement and setting clear expectations
- Skill in liaising with other fire service leadership and external agencies to establish and maintain collaborative relationships
- Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

- 1 permanent fulltime position
- Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week Monday Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite.
- Salary Range: (Annually) $123139.00 $153924.00
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search satisfactory to the City of Edmonton.

Join our dynamic Community Safety and Risk leadership team as the Manager Outreach and Public Education. In this pivotal role youll drive impactful public education community engagement and outreach initiatives. The Manager leads a diverse portfolio encompassing public safety programs strategic partnerships and innovative sponsorship opportunities. Elevate public awareness for Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) inspire career recruitment and build stronger safer communities.
Reporting to the Deputy Fire Chief Community Safety and Risk the Manager will craft and implement engaging strategies to connect with Edmontonians promote EFRS services and foster meaningful relationships with organizations and agencies. Drive a holistic approach to public safety education reaching all corners of our vibrant city.
What will you do
- Lead and shape public education initiatives to enhance community safety
- Develop and implement public safety programs for Edmontonians.
- Drive outreach activities to promote diverse careers within Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS).
- Lead the Public Education Team including Fire Prevention Officers and a Training Instructor to deliver on the goals of EFRS
- Build and strengthen community partnerships with a focus on underrepresented groups
- Cultivate relationships with external agencies and other fire services in the region
- Manage sponsorship opportunities to expand EFRS volunteerism and community programming
- Foster positive employee engagement to align public education and outreach efforts
- Utilize GenderBased Analysis Plus (GBA) to evaluate and implement inclusive public education and outreach programs ensuring they meet the diverse needs of the Edmonton community
