Wage:$31.00 per hour. Per CBA Article 5 Compensation G.1 Working overtime (beyond 40 hours per week) must be preapproved by the Department Director or Superintendent.

Position Purpose:
To provide instruction to children 35 years of age) in activities designed to promote social physical and intellectual growth needed for primary school in a selfcontained preschool setting during the summer.
Core Job Functions:
- Establishes and maintains rapport with students and parents.
- Establishes a supportive nurturing learning environment in the classroom.
- Assists children/families in needed areas of early childhood curriculum social cognitive selfhelp receptive communication expressive communications grossmotor finemotor and family strengths and needs.
- Responsible for regular periodic monitoring and data collection of childs progress and provides feedback to parents.
- Assists with the training and coordination of assistants.
- Communicates regularly with parents and other Migrant Program staff.
- Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with ESD staff district personnel parents related service providers and other agency personnel.
- Undertakes a program of continuing education to maintain and improve teaching skills and knowledge in the area of Early Childhood Education.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws district policies and administrative regulations.
Department Specific Responsibilities:
- Teaches basic skills such as color shape number and letter recognition personal hygiene and social skills by adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and projects and communicates those objectives to the children.
- Provides a variety of materials and resources for children to explore manipulate and use both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Organizes and leads activities designed to promote physical mental and social development such as games arts and crafts music and storytelling.
- Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
- Prepares materials and classroom for class activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support the success of the agency.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of child development and early education theories and practices.
- Ability to modify and adapt curriculum for children with special needs.
- Ability to teach and instruct individuals and groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop collaborative relationships with students families district personnel and other agency staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively with children and parents from diverse cultures socioeconomic levels and disabilities in a nonjudgmental manner.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to interpret implement and administer curriculum federal state and district policies and administrative rules.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Three to five years successful experience in teaching preschool children.
- Other alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
