Job Summary
Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats colds flulike symptoms cuts sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelors Degree required for Physician Assistants
Masters Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
Work Experience
25 years of postresidency clinical experience required
Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required
Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
National Certification
Active state medical licensure
Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required
Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting
Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing splinting etc.
Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities Preferred
Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
Strong communication and customer service skills
Essential Functions
Essential functions are those tasks duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the jobs purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable.
Following are the essential functions of the job.
Examining and treating patients
Taking patients medical histories
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and Xrays
Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
Treating minor injuries that may require sutures splints or casting
Recording progress notes for followup patients
Educating and counseling patients
Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
Giving vaccinations and referring patients to additional care
Each provider will work an anticipated four 4 eight 8 or twelve 12 hours per shift which will be assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care
