Job Description

Title: NSU Assistant Mens Basketball Coach

State Role Title: Professional Lecturer

Hiring Range: Commensurate with Credentials and Experience

Job Duties

Identifies and recruits potential student athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations and academic standards as well as University academic requirements.
Assist in coordination and management of all aspects of oncourt skill instruction and player development.
Monitors student athletes progress and implement strategies to ensure academic and athletic success.
Performs administrative duties such as travel fundraising and camp/clinic coordination.
Assists the Head Coach with game management duties
Assist in the planning and implementation of game plans for each game including development of scouting reports of opponents.
Perform duties with professional conduct being fiscally responsible and with a commitment to studentathlete wellbeing.
Support and work cooperatively with Sports Medicine Strength and Conditioning Compliance Media Relations etc.
Maintains sensitivity understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment inclusive of students faculty and staff of varying social economic cultural ideological and ethnic backgrounds.
Follow all rules and regulations as outlined by the Norfolk State University the Department of Athletics NCAA and conference office.
All other duties assigned by the Head Coach.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
Collegiate mens basketball playing or coaching experience is required.
Successful criminal background check is required.

Additional Considerations

Masters degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
Collegiate mens basketball playing or coaching experience on a professional or national level.
