Becoming an Apprentice with the City of Newcastle (CN) will provide you with the opportunity to combine onthejob learning with structured training.
This 4year fixedterm contract is based within our Open Space Operations team where you will gain exposure to all elements of greenkeeping through on the job and technical training.
As an Apprentice you will work in conjunction with highly experienced Field Supervisors and Coordinators within Open Space Operations Service Unit. This service unit provides in the delivery of efficient and effective bushland and park maintenance work seeing you learn how to operate machinery equipment and tools such as mowers trimmers blowers irrigation and sprayers.
You will also have the opportunity to assist with mowing constructing spots turf surfaces sampling and testing soil and monitoring and maintaining plant health as part of your apprenticeship.

What is next
If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of our recruitment process you will be required to attend 1 x group assessment centre for a 3hour period between Tuesday 27th May Thursday 29th May 2025. Preemployment medicals will take place on Monday 9 Tuesday 12 June.
