Job Overview: The Quality Technician plays a vital role in ensuring that our products meet stringent quality and reliability standards. This position involves testing and inspecting products at various stages including receiving manufacturing welding and assembly to ensure compliance with VanAms policies customer requirements regulatory standards and engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Testing Quality Technicians are responsible for inspecting and testing raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. This includes performing quality control tests identifying and troubleshooting quality issues and maintaining and calibrating testing equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting Maintaining accurate records of inspections and tests is a crucial part of the role. Quality Technicians document and report any issues or defects found during inspections create and maintain quality control documentation and reports and analyze data to identify trends or patterns in product quality.
  • Process Improvement and Compliance Quality Technicians collaborate with production teams to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations. They participate in continuous improvement initiatives recommend solutions for quality issues and assist in training production staff on quality control procedures and standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Calibration Ensuring that testing equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly is essential. Quality Technicians perform routine maintenance on testing equipment maintain and update quality control procedures and monitor adherence to safety protocols within the workplace.

These responsibilities collectively ensure that products or services meet the required quality specifications and comply with relevant standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

Education: A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate degree in a related field is preferred.

Experience: 35 years of experience utilizing measuring equipment including micrometers calipers depth gauges gauge blocks indicators go/nogo gauges tape measures and inside micrometers. Additionally a minimum of one year of education and/or onthejob experience in a metal manufacturing environment is required.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting both 2D and 3D engineering drawings is essential. Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is required. A solid understanding of quality tools such as the 8D problemsolving process Statistical Process Control (SPC) and the 5 Whys technique is crucial.

Additional Skills: Strong mathematical skills are necessary. Effective written and verbal communication skills in English are vital.


Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 is preferred.

Physical Demands: The role requires the ability to stand walk and move throughout the manufacturing floor for extended periods. The ability to lift and handle objects up to 50 lbs is necessary. Visual acuity is required for inspecting products and reading technical documents. Dexterity to operate precision measuring equipment and testing tools is essential.

Work Environment: The position is in a fastpaced manufacturing environment with frequent inspections of production areas. Exposure to noise dust and moving machinery is expected. The ability to meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects is essential.
